Automatic Marker Field Calibration

چکیده
In many augmented reality applications a marker field (set of markers) is used to define the 3Dcoordinate transformation between the camera and the virtual objects. In most systems, the physical positions and pose of each marker relative to each others need to be measured in advance. This calibration process is often time consuming and inaccurate if done by hand. We present an automatic calibration process for a set of markers creating a marker field. Our automatic calibration can be used without any preparations and the markers may be placed in any 3D arrangement including even arbitrary angles and slanting planes. The calibration is a real time process and it does not need separate calibration phase. The user may lay markers randomly on suitable places and start tracking immediately. The accuracy of the system improves on the run as the transformation matrices are updated dynamically. The calibration can also be done as a separate calibration stage, and the results can be saved and used later with another application. In our implementation we used ARToolKit and its marker field implementation. However, the algorithms to create a marker field can be applied to create any type of feature/marker field mapping, not only ARToolKit compatible.

Automatic geometric calibration of projector-based light field displays
We present a novel calibration method for continuous multiview (light field) projection-based displays using a single uncalibrated camera and four fiducial markers. Calibration starts from a simple parametric description of the display layout. First, individual projectors are calibrated through parametric optimization of an idealized pinhole model. Then, the overall display and projector parame...
متن کاملAutomatic Extrinsic Calibration of Vision and Lidar by Maximizing Mutual Information
This paper reports on an algorithm for automatic, targetless, extrinsic calibration of a lidar and optical camera system based upon the maximization of mutual information between the sensor measured surface intensities. The proposed method is completely data driven and does not require any fiducial calibration targets—making in situ calibration easy. We calculate the Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRL...
متن کاملImage sequence based automatic multi - camera system calibration techniques 1
An image sequence-based, fully automatic and rather flexible procedure for the calibration of stationary multi-camera systems for 3-D observation of dynamic events is presented and analysed. While conventional close-range camera calibration techniques are either based on a stable point-field with known reference coordinates or on a temporarily stationary point-field with only approximately know...
متن کاملAutomatic Calibration of HEC-HMS Model Using Multi-Objective Fuzzy Optimal Models
Estimation of parameters of a hydrologic model is undertaken using a procedure called “calibration” in order to obtain predictions as close as possible to observed values. This study aimed to use the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for automatic calibration of the HEC-HMS hydrologic model, which includes a library of different event-based models for simulating the rainfall-runoff pr...
متن کامل A novel approach to automatic position calibration for pixelated crystals in gamma imaging
Introduction: The position estimation in gamma detection system will have constant misplacements which can be corrected in the calibration procedure. In the pixelated crystal uniformly irradiation of detector will produce irregular shape due to position estimation errors. This image is called flood field image and is used to calibrate the position estimation. In this work we pr...
